Description: Information Security – Why Is It So Important? This session will discuss the current state of affairs in the InfoSec arena. There are many governing bodies, pieces of legislation, organizations, etc. interested in how and if you are securing your, your employees’, and your clients’ data. Are you? Let’s talk about it.
Presenter: Eric Karkau joined the TCS Technologies team in 2006. An alumnus of Oklahoma Christian College and Tennessee Tech University, Eric has been involved in information technology since 1988 and has experience with network administration, security, as well as working for several years as an information technology auditor. He holds several Microsoft Certifications and is a Certified Information Systems Auditor. Eric has worked with such companies as Fleetguard-Nelson, Inc. (a subsidiary of Cummins Engine), HCA (Hospital Corporation of America), and Ingram Industries. Working with all levels within an organization, from staff-level programmers and managers to Chief Information Security Officers and Chief Executive Officers, to align policies and processes with industry best practices, his areas of specialized experience have been in network vulnerability assessment, policy enforcement, corporate liability, disaster recovery planning, security controls, and penetration testing. Mr. Karkau belongs to the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA), Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA), and the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA). Mr. Karkau is a resident of Spring Hill, TN, where he resides with his wife and two children.
