Join us for a lively discussion of Project Portfolio Management, Project Prioritization and Alignment to Business Objectives, and the Project Intake Process.

On the panel are Kathleen Boden-Benson from Foley & Lardner and Mark Corradi from Sherman & Sterling, two law firms deep into project management and well on their way to project management methodology maturity.  The panel is moderated by Sally Hatchett of Bingham McCutchen, the ILTA VP of the new and increasingly active Project Management Peer Group.

Sally Hatchett is the Director of Project Management for the 800-attorney firm of Bingham McCutchen, with responsibility for firm-wide project management infrastructure.  She began her career as an IBM systems engineer and has 20 years of experience in legal administration, including law firm IT management and project management.  Sally holds a certificate in Project Management from UC Berkeley Extension and is a member of the Project Management Institute.  Sally is the Vice President of ILTA’s Project Management Peer Group.

Kathleen A. Boden-Benson, Senior Manager of Technology Project Planning and Analysis, Foley & Lardner LLP
Kathleen A. Boden-Benson is the Senior Manager of Technology Project Planning and Analysis at Foley & Cardner LLP.  In her current position she is responsible for developing and leading a strategically-oriented project portfolio.  Her objective is to prioritize and optimize the resulting value from the portfolio of active projects within the resource capability of the organization.  Most recently she was responsible for the creation and subsequent development of Foley’s Technology Project Management Office.  She has over 20 years experience in the information technology area and has a wide range of expertise and a proven record of accomplishment in designing solutions, implementing systems and improving business processes which affect various business units and impacts the bottom line.  A native of Minnesota, Kathleen’s education is in the Computer Information Systems field with professional memberships in the Project Management Institute (PMI), PMI-Milwaukee Chapter, and PMI-ISSIG.

Mark Corradi, PMP, Global Technology Solutions, Supervisor, Project Management Office, Shearman and Sterling, LLP
Mark Corradi is the Supervisor of the Project Management Office within global Technology Solutions at Shearman and Sterling LLP. He is responsible for the development, implementation and overall administration of portfolio, program, project, risk management processes and EPM technologies firmwide.  Mark graduated from Seton Hall University, M.A. East Asian Studies and has over 15 years of extensive experience in Global PMO deployment. He is a member of PMI-NY Chapter and a founding member of New York Law Firm PM roundtable.

Join us for a panel discussion on using Microsoft SharePoint to integrate with the leading third party products for legal.  Our panelists will demo actual SharePoint applications in use at their firms.

Silas McCullough joined mindSHIFT Technologies in 1999 and has over 10 years of experience in the IT field. His areas of expertise cover both managerial and technical aspects.  He manages the professional services group in the Washington, DC office and is charged with account and project management for clients located within the greater metropolitan area.  His technical expertise includes Microsoft Windows Server and Desktop, Active Directory, Exchange Server and SharePoint.  Silas is a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE).

Beau Mersereau is the Manager of Applications and Development at Fish & Richardson P.C.  He leads the Applications team at FR in all aspects of intranet, extranet, database and applications development. He was the former IT Director at Sutin, Thayer & Browne before leaving to start his own consulting company, Plexix LLC, and a former Project Leader at ProLaw Software.

Dave Sampieri, Director, Systems Development, Blank Rome LLP
Dave Sampieri, Blank Rome's Director of Systems Development, has been with the firm for a little over two years.  Prior to joining the Technology Department in 2003, he worked as a consultant to the firm on Intranet and Extranet projects, developing several web parts designed to integrate the firm's document management and email systems with Sharepoint Portal Server. Dave worked as an independent consultant for five years, where he focused on installation and integration of Imaging and Document Management systems. All told, Dave has over twenty years in the technology field.

Mal Mead, Director of IT Project Development and Management, Fenwick & West LLP
Mal Mead is the Director of IT Project Development and Management at Fenwick & West LLP, a Silicon Valley-based law firm specializing in the representation of high-tech and bio-tech companies.  Previously he was Director of Technology at Bingham McCutchen in San Francisco and at Brown McCarroll in Austin, Texas.  Mal edited the 2005 ILTA IT Staffing Survey and the 2004 ILTA Technology Survey and has been involved in law firm administration for over twenty years.

With the extraordinary propagation, proliferation and dispersion of electronic information over the last ten years, traditional models of information and records management have broken down.  A new operational construct (matter centric design and centralization), new technology (federated search engines) and integrated workflows can help lawyers re-establish their official files and appropriately manage the life cycle of client information.  This session will address the opportunities and best practice methodologies afforded by these constructs, technologies and operational procedures.

Meg Block has over twenty years of experience consulting to the legal community and leads Baker Robbins & Company’s records management service solution line. Her primary specialties are business process reviews and the design, selection and implementation of enterprise-wide information systems – including new business intake, conflicts of interest, records management, calendar/docket, and automated workflow.
David Craig, Shareholder, Baker Robbins & Company
David Craig has over ten years experience consulting to the legal and professional service communities, in addition to managing the firm’s New York office.  He is a frequent speaker on subjects such as corporate portals, knowledge management and collaboration technologies.  He focuses on the strategic alignment of information technology with emerging strategic business objectives and the design, implementation and project management for large-scale information systems deployment.  David is well versed in state-of-the-art document and content management technologies such as Interwoven, Plumtree, Autonomy and Hummingbird’s EIP solution.
