Roundtable Discussion on EDD and Strategies for Sharing Data
8:30 – 9:00 Welcome/Continental Breakfast
9:00 – 11:00 Roundtable discussion on EDD
The basic process for managing eDiscovery is often skewed. Too often the e-discovery process lands on the desk of Lit Support and/or IT staff after the request for the data has been responded to, whereas the IT people really need to be involved at the start. This open discussion will address the following:
a. Best way to manage an e-discovery project – collaboration with all individuals involved from the start.
b. Discussion of a typical e-discovery project, (if there is such a thing).
c. Give what you get and get what you give.
d. Discussion on capturing electronic documents for discovery.
e. TRIAGE - Deal with the huge piles of discovery you are bound to get. (Create small collections, not the giant ones)
Come and discuss with your peers how to best deal with the process of gathering, collecting, storing and searching electronic records.
11:00 – 12:00 Strategies for Sharing Data
This seminar will review the growing means of disseminating data and portions of data to counsel, co-counsel, and expert witnesses using the Summation product line. We will review the traditional network based litigation support system to integrate paper, images, OCR text and native file documents with transcripts, issues, events and work-product analysis. We will then review the mechanisms for transferring cases or portions of cases to a laptop computer for Online/Offline access. The seminar will conclude with a review of Summation's latest web based tools - WebBlaze™ and CaseVault® 2.0 and the different ways they can provide online access to datasets and transcripts.
By demonstrating the various means of data dissemination, and the potential usages of each means, attendees will be better equipped to analyze which method would be bested suit for a particular case and an individual counsel.
